Sheriff’s Homicide Investigators are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding an officer involved shooting in Pomona.
On Monday, March 30, 2020 at 7:15 PM, officers from the Pomona Police Department responded to the 200 block of South Reservoir Street regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call. An officer arrived on scene and was directed to the area the suspect was last seen. The officer located the suspect and attempted to detain him. The suspect produced a sword and advanced on the officer, at which point an officer involved shooting occurred.
The suspect, a Hispanic male in his 40’s, was pronounced dead at the scene. The officer was not injured. A sword was recovered at the scene.
A victim who had been assaulted by the suspect from the original call for service was located and transported to a local hospital where he was treated for apparent stab wounds. His injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide detectives responded to the 200 S. Reservoir Street, Pomona to assist Pomona Police Department personnel investigate the circumstances surrounding an Officer-Involved shooting.
No officers were injured during the incident.
The suspect, a male Hispanic adult, was struck by gunfire and pronounced dead at the scene..
The investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information available at this time.
