Duarte Crime Blotter for the Week of March 22-28, 2020

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of March 22-28, 2020:

March 25, 2020
  • Robbery (Estes):
A robbery was reported at CigMart located at 2237 Huntington Drive. At approximately 9:40 a.m., a male adult entered the store and grabbed a plastic container, containing Lotto tickets. The victim saw this and ran over and grabbed the container. After a brief struggle, the male adult wrestled the container away from the victim and ran out of the store. Estimated loss was $300.
 
  • Grand Theft (Auto Parts):
A grand theft was reported on the 2300 block of Oakhaven Drive. At approximately 3:00 a.m., the victim was woken up by the sounds of a power tool. When he looked out the window, he saw a dark SUV leaving eastbound on Oakhaven Drive and out of view. The victim went out later that morning to move his vehicle and his vehicle made a loud noise. The victim looked underneath his vehicle and saw that his catalytic converter was cut from his vehicle. Estimated loss was $1,200.
 
  • Assault With a Deadly Weapon:
An assault with a deadly weapon was reported on the 1800 block of Citrus View Avenue. At approximately 8:00 p.m., the victim was carrying items from his car to his front door. As he was about to open the front door, he felt something hit him in his left eye. The victim stated he blacked out. The victim’s wife found him unconscious on the front porch. She woke him up and drove him to the hospital. The victim and his wife did not see or hear anyone. The victim does not have any video surveillance at his house.
 
March 26, 2020
  • Burglary (Garage):
A burglary to a garage was reported on the 1400 block of 1st street. At approximately 1:00 p.m., a co-worker came to the victim’s house to drop off paperwork and notified her that her garage door was open. The victim went out and saw that the lock on her garage was missing and her garage had been ransacked. Due to the mess, the victim was unable to tell if anything was missing. The victim has surveillance video but it is unknown at this time if the surveillance video caught the incident. Estimated loss is $9 for the lock on the garage.
 
March 27, 2020
  • Burglary (residence):
A residential burglary was reported on the 1100 block of Highland Avenue. The victim left his home at approximately 5:00 p.m. and returned at approximately 10:30 p.m. The unknown persons entered through his kitchen window. The victim noticed several items disturbed throughout his house. The unknown persons took alcohol, miscellaneous U.S. currency and several pairs of shoes from his closet.Estimated loss was $1,930.
