SUBJECT: Three Newark teenagers arrested after motor vehicle burglary spree.

DATE/TIME: March 29th, 2020

LOCATION: Wayside Section of Ocean Township

ACCUSED: Synceir Spruill 18 year old Male // Newark, New Jersey
17 year old male // Newark, New Jersey
16 year old male // Newark, New Jersey

NARRATIVE:

Shortly after midnight on March 29th 2020, patrol units responded to a call for service on Copperfield Court. Responding officers were able to ascertain that a motor vehicle burglary had taken place and a description of three potential suspects was obtained. Further investigation revealed that numerous additional unlocked motor vehicle burglaries had taken place throughout the area, on Springhouse Road, Seward Drive, Ellen Court, Arbor Way, Brooke Street, Cutter Drive, Mallard Lane and Cold Indian Springs Road.

While these incidents were being investigated, Monmouth County Sheriff's Officer Kroeper and K9 Skye responded to the area. A K9 track took place and K9 Skye ultimately led officers to the rear yard of a nearby residence. At that location, three male subjects were located hiding underneath a bush. The three males were taken into custody. One of the males was identified as 18 year old male Synceir Spruill of Newark, NJ. The other two males were juveniles from Newark, NJ.

Spruill was charged with multiple counts of burglary, theft, possession of burglar’s tools and trespassing. He was processed and released pending a future court appearance. Charges against the juvenile subjects will be reviewed and considered by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
