Good Morning Shorewood NIXLE Registrant,
 
In the midst of our virus crisis, severe weather has crept up on us.  Today, we have a significant risk of severe weather in our region.  With that in mind, today is a great idea to dust off your weather radio or ensure you have a warning system like a phone app.  If you are getting this, you are already registered at NIXLE and will receive warnings from the NWS.    THANK YOU for registering to stay informed   We have outdoor warning sirens for people who are outdoors.  They are not designed for people inside their homes.  You cannot hear them if your teenager is blaring their blue tooth speakers or if you are sporting your new headphones to escape your teenager blaring their blue tooth speakers. 
 
Other suggested apps:   The Weather Channel, Storm Radar, Weather Underground.   There are many others but I don’t have the time to use them all.
 
Severe weather today is expected this afternoon into the late evening hours.  Risks today include severe thunderstorms, large hail, possibly a tornado, and damaging winds. 
 
Let’s be prepared!  In the midst of you Saturday social distancing, get a plan together to keep everyone in the house informed of what do “IF.”  Clear out a safe spot in the basement or interior of your home to safely sit in case bad weather rolls in.   There are lots of education resources for weather of all types at the National Weather Service:     www.weather.gov
