Coronavirus/COVID-19 Update: The City of Monterey Park Continues to Expand Efforts to Slow the Spread of COVID-19 with the Closure of Edison Trails Park and Trail

Monterey Park, Calif. March 27, 2020 The City of Monterey Park will continue to follow the lead of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in implementing protocols to protect the health and safety of everyone in public spaces and in providing accurate and timely updates to the community.

Today, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has ordered the closure of all public trails and trailheads, beaches, piers, and beach access points. The City of Monterey Park is subject to this order and will comply by closing Edison Trails Park and trail, effective immediately.

Again, the intent of this action is to avoid the spread of COVID-19 by having people shelter in place (another way of saying stay home) at their residence, while enabling only essential services to continue. Failure to comply with the provisions of this action constitutes a threat to public health.

Please continue to check the City’s website for updates at www.montereypark.ca.gov/coronavirus.

Help Desk Hours
The City understands that residents and stakeholders may need assistance and additional access to resources during this difficult time and has extended Help Desk hours to provide continued service. The Help Desk can be reached 8:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. daily (Sunday-Saturday) at 626-307-1377 or at [email protected].

Important: Please do not call 911 to request testing for COVID-19 and please do not go to an emergency room unless you are seriously ill and require emergency care. If you have respiratory illness and want to know if you should be tested for COVID-19, it is best to call your health care provider or, if you don’t have a provider, call 2-1-1 for help finding a clinician near you.
