03-27-2020 A MESSAGE FROM MAYOR TOM GIORDANO

Dear Neighbors & Friends:

Like those across the state, country, and world, residents of Waldwick are working hard to slow the spread of COVID-19. This effort requires a tremendous sacrifice and has added a great deal of stress to our daily lives. However, in all of this, all of you have risen to the challenge and have shown the best of who we are as individuals and who we are as a community.

Thank you all for adhering to guidelines on social distancing, working from home, schooling from home, and supporting our businesses as best you can.

Thank you to our first responders, Waldwick Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Waldwick Police Department, my brothers and sisters in the Waldwick Volunteer Fire Department, for selflessly giving your time and efforts to help the residents of Waldwick.

Our Ambulance Corps deserves special recognition as they are working closely with those who are suffering the symptoms of COVID-19, and they volunteer to do so.

Individual Waldwick residents have also stepped up in our time of need to donate their time, talents, and materials. Johanna Laliberte, Pat Laliberte and Tami Moses are sewing masks for healthcare workers. Former Councilman Anthony Celeste, Gary Wilkin, Sandy Donnelly, Ali Kawalec, Chris Reed, Sam Song, Roy Miller, and Kellie Fagan have donated items such as N95 masks, surgical gowns, and blood borne pathogen kits to the Police Department and Ambulance Corps.

Donations of PPE, including N95 or surgical masks and isolation or surgical gowns, are appreciated. Please email [email protected] or [email protected] to arrange for donations.

The Waldwick Chamber of Commerce is working hard to support businesses during these difficult times. The Chamber has created a list of all the Chamber members that are currently open, either at their physical location or virtually. Visit www.thewaldwickchamberofcommerce.com for a list of open businesses. Waldwick businesses need your support now more than ever.

This is an uncertain time that we never experienced before , but I am confident that we will make it through, together, as a community. As always, let us take the time to reach out to our elderly neighbors and see if they need any assistance.

Waldwick always comes through when there is a need, we are not just a community, and we are “Family”. Together we will make the sun shine brighter in the days, weeks, and months ahead. The Light of Waldwick will shine bright and guide us to better days.

Make the best of your weekend and as always PLEASE STAY SAFE.

                                                       Your  Friend, Mayor Tom Giordano
