Mountain Lakes first confirmed case of Coronavirus in Borough.
March 26, 2020
Dear Mountain Lakes Residents,
The Bloomfield Health Department (providers of health services to Mountain Lakes under a shared services agreement) has informed the Mountain Lakes Office of Emergency Management that one of our residents has tested positive for the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19). Our thoughts are with this resident and their family. Due to HIPAA regulations, we have no additional information about this resident.
The Health Department is currently working to conduct a thorough investigation into this case and to identify other individuals with whom the patient may have come in contact. Health Officials will then contact them in order to provide the necessary support and guidance.
Mountain Lakes is a strong community, however, this confirmed case is a reminder to all that we are not immune to current public health concerns. All residents should make deliberate efforts to flatten the curve of virus transmission by practicing social distancing and other recommended methods to protect yourself. It is similarly important that those with questions seek appropriate guidance and medical advice from their primary care physician or other qualified sources such as the New Jersey Department of Health (NJ DOH) or the United Stated Center for Disease Control and Prevention (US CDC).
Please continue to support one another during this challenging time, and I ask everyone to please be patient as we continue to work to provide accurate information to the public.
Stay well,
Mitchell Stern
