COMMUNITY SITUATION REPORT
March 25, 2020
 
This Community Situation Report is intended to keep the community of Seward updated and aware of resources available to them while being challenged with restrictions placed upon them due to the Coronavirus.
 
HEALTHCARE
 

Providence Hospital	Use the online self-assessment tool found at www.providence.org if you have any healthcare concerns Call ahead if you need to visit at 224-5205
Seward Mt. Haven	Closed to visitors
Seward Community Health Center	Front doors are locked; call ahead if you need to visit at 224-2273 Some appointments may be delayed or rescheduled for some patients
Chugachmiut/NorthStar	Doors closed to visitors Call ahead for an appointment at 224-3490
Seaview Community Services	Continuing to serve clients; accepting new clients
Glacierview Family Medicine Clinic	Open for business as usual Call ahead if you are experiencing any symptoms of the coronavirus; testing is available for patients with symptoms Call 224-8733 for an appointment or to speak to staff

Dr. Michael Moriarty, DDS	Monday – Thursday office is limited to on-call emergency services only Front door is locked; no walk-ins Call 224-3071 for an appointment (call 362-3456 after 5 pm)

 

SCHOOLS & MEALS
 

KPB School District	“Get-It and Go” free meals for students, Monday-Friday. Call 907-714-8890 to sign-up or change your options Distance/remote learning instruction for all grades will take place online beginning March 30 - May 1
Boys & Girls Club	Serving bag lunches Mon-Fri from 12-3 pm on alley side of Teen & Youth Center (TYC)
AVTEC	Closed for students and the public Buildings are locked; call 224-6159 to make an appointment Staff is now telecommuting

 
GROCERIES & SUPPLIES
 

He Will Provide Food Shelter	Open Thursdays from 3-6 pm; pre-filled bags of food being delivered outside the facility; clients may notice a shift to receiving more staples than previously Questions or concerns contact President Mike Little at 769-1395
Safeway	Checkstand sneeze guards and new signage coming soon Store hours changed to: 6:00 am – 10:00 pm Daily Special shopping time reserved for elders, pregnant women, and compromised immune system individuals from 7-9 am on Tuesdays & Thursdays
Pharmacy at Safeway	Hours, Mon-Sat 9 am – 7 pm PLUS special Pharmacy hours on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 7-9 am to coincide with Safeway’s special shopping reserved hours Prescription delivery is available; requests received by 1 pm will be delivered the same day; call 224-6960 to sign up
Seward Marketplace	Open for business as usual
Frontier Trading Post	Open for business as usual

Post Office	Open for business as usual No longer using recycled slips for packages Cleaning protocols increased to hourly

Seward Rotary	Collecting Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in unopened original packaging that can be distributed to front line care providers in town; drop site on porch at Rez Art
Kenai Fjords National Park	Exit Glacier trails are open for hiking, but all facilities are closed, including public use cabins and toilets Call 422-0500 for information
Senior Center	Individuals over 60 years old call 224-5604 to sign up for Meals On Wheels
Alaska Railroad	No cruise line updates available at this time Passenger trains are cancelled; freight trains are running
Port	Crowley tugs leaving Seward with local workers to bring critical items (fuel, groceries and supplies) to western Alaska locations; adhering to strict health protocols
Chamber of Commerce	Assisting businesses with applying for SBA loans Gathering info on open businesses, hours, etc.; log your info at www.seward.com or email business info to [email protected] Contact directly at 224-8051 with questions about your business
Glacierview Apartments	Closed to visitors Only medical and personal care representatives allowed Delivery table set up at entrance; use intercom system to alert residents of deliveries All common rooms closed Following CDC cleaning protocols for shared areas
Fire Department	Sign up to receive Alert and Advisory messages by texting the zip code 99664 to the number 888777
Police Department	Inbound calls to Seward 911 or Seward dispatch that require in person response will be required to answer screening questions to enable responders to adequately prepare
Sip ‘N Spin Laundromat	No more than 5 people in the building at one time Laundry vouchers can be redeemed Mondays from 12 – 4 pm; laundry must be on site and done during this time Sundays reserved for elders over 60 and anyone with compromised immune system
