Message from the Danville Town Council

To Our Danville Community,

We are currently faced with a challenge that is unprecedented in our nation’s history.   While the uncertainty surrounding this crisis is weighing on all of us, we want you to know you are not alone.  Your Town government is working around the clock to ensure Danville is safe, to limit the spread of the virus, and to maintain vital Town services including the police department.

Our Town staff has been working hard to implement the recommendations by the Contra Costa County Public Health Department and the State of California.  This includes the following measures:

  • Declaring a State of Local Emergency at the March 17th Town Council meeting which gives us access to state and federal emergency funding
  • Cancelling or rescheduling of non-governmental Town events and meetings
  • Deferring certain non-essential Town services while having employees work remotely when possible to perform essential activities
  • Postponing all Commission and Board meetings until at least April 7th
  • Streaming Town Council meetings to allow all Danville residents to participate remotely
  • And, of course, continuing to provide uninterrupted Police services to ensure the safety of our community

All of the decisions we are making are designed to minimize the community’s exposure to the novel coronavirus so that everyone stays safe while at the same time focusing Town resources on meeting the community’s fundamental needs. We are staying on top of all developments as the COVID-19 pandemic evolves. We will continue to adapt to changes we need to make to provide essential Town services and to keep everyone safe.  Here is where you can access the latest information on local services and information:

We know this shelter-in-place order creates challenges for everyone. The entire Town has come together as it has in previous challenging times. There are so many examples of Danville Town residents and businesses helping each other out.  Our first responders and medical professionals have been selfless and dedicated.  And, don’t forget the unsung heroes, the employees who are working so hard to keep our stores open and to keep us supplied with food and essential products.  Be sure to thank them when you have the opportunity.

Many of you are asking what else you can do to help.  Here are a few ideas:

And, finally, the most important thing you can do is stay at home with your family!  We are in a critical period in the progression of this pandemic. Your biggest contribution will be to maintain social distance. Don’t risk getting infected or infecting others.  Together we can and will slow the impacts of this disease.

We know this is a daunting time.  We also know that what makes living in Danville so unique is our sense of community.  Your Town Council and Town Government are in this together with you. We will get through this crisis and will appreciate our community even more when we can all gather together again.

Take care and stay safe,

Danville Town Council
