Coronavirus Update from Town of Danville

March 24, 2020 Update

Gardeners/Landscapers:
One of the most frequent questions/concerns that we receive is in the area of whether landscapers and gardeners are allowed to continue to operate under the current Shelter in Place order.  Under the order, these functions are considered to be non-essential and these companies should be adhering to the shelter order.  The only exception to that rule would be if there is an emergency situation affecting the safety or habitability of the house.  For instance, a large tree branch has fallen/is about to fall that would damage a roof or bring down power lines.  We recognize this creates an inconvenience, but we ask that all residents contact their gardeners and suspend work for the duration.  For those wanting to get more information on the shelter order and what is involved, go to www.cchealth.org to see the order and the FAQs.

Reporting Health Order Violations:
We have received a large number of calls, e-mails, direct messages, etc from residents reporting large gatherings, landscapers working and more violations of the shelter order.  In order to allow us to better organize these issues for resolution by the police, we are asking residents to use our app Danville Connect as a means for reporting these. The app is available in either the google play or itunes stores for free.  You can also use the app on our website by going to www.danville.ca.gov/danvilleconnect.

Danville Business Page:
The closures required by the pandemic are having a serious effect on our area businesses.  In order to help support our business community, we have added a page to our website highlighting what some of our businesses are doing in the face of this evolving situation. This is a page we will be expanding and adding to as we get more information. The site is https://www.danville.ca.gov/767/Danville-Businesses-Going-the-Distance

In addition, our website features a list of those Danville restaurants that are open and offering takeout service.  Go to https://www.danville.ca.gov/759/Danville-Restaurants-Offering-Takeout

EBMUD Update:
Our friends at East Bay Municipal Utility District have asked us to share some information to the community in regard to water service.  They had three main points they wished to convey. Those are:

  1. Tap water is safe to drink. There is no risk of contracting the coronavirus from drinking water
  2. Water service will not be turned off during this emergency
  3. Please do not flush sanitary wipes down the toilet. Even those listed as flushable. The increase in the use of such wipes and flushing them creates stress on the system
Republic Services Update:
Our friends at Republic Services have asked us to share some information regarding their operations as well during the coronavirus.  Changes they have instituted include:
  1. The front office is closed. Payment drop-off is still available through their mail slot. Customers can also call the customer service number (925) 685-4711 for assistance with online bill pay and other payment methods.
  2. In order to reduce drivers’ exposure and direct contact with items, after this week, Bulky Pick-Up and On-Call Clean-up programs are suspended. This includes e-waste, appliances, furniture and other materials that do not fit in the regular waste bin. Pick-ups scheduled through this week will be completed but those scheduled after Friday will be cancelled.
Regular pick-up of garbage, recycling, and organic will continue as normal.
