Advisory

March 23, 2020 Coronavirus update from Burr Ridge Mayor Gary Grasso.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM MAYOR GRASSO
ON COVID-19 / CORONAVIRUS
March 23, 2020
GOVERNOR’S STAY-AT-HOME ORDER EFFECTIVE THRU APRIL 7 Remember that Governor Pritzker’s Stay-At-Home Order is in effect through April 7 th . I support the Governor’s strong approach and accept his willingness to take extraordinary action to implement the number 1 job of government – assure your health & safety. Continue to refer to www.burr-ridge.gov for up-to-date information about this Order. Staff is keeping current and our Police are patrolling and answering calls to keep you safe and protected. The SAH Order permits you to go for a job or a long walk. Spring is here, the grass is getting greener, trees and bushes are budding. Try a long walk or a jog – you’ll probably feel better in these difficult times.

PLEASE TELL OTHERS IN BURR RIDGE TO GIVE US THEIR CONTACT INFO. Times like these justify us having it to keep everyone in Burr Ridge informed. Tell your Burr Ridge friends and neighbors (by phone, Facebook or email) to sign up for Burr Ridge Alerts, especially Nixle messages. Direct them to www.burr-ridge.gov and find the portal to Burr Ridge Alerts and click.

Brookhaven Market is taking grocery orders online – www.brookhavenmarket.com. Their staff will shop for you (give them your list), and bring your order out to your car! They will deliver too depending on demand. If you prefer to shop in person, the best times to shop are when they open – 7:00 a.m., and at 8:30 p.m. before they close at 9:00 p.m. Brookhaven apparently is keeping well stocked and meeting demand. Kirsten’s Bakery also is open for business every day. Go to our webpage for a list of businesses that are open daily and their hours. Many Village Center businesses are open as well. Go to www.shopburrridge.com/directory/shop for a list of open stores.

As I have been reporting, Burr Ridge based Metro Infectious Disease Consultants (MIDC) – an affiliate of Advocate Health and part of the nation’s largest infectious disease medical group – has equipped a medical tent in its parking lot at 901 McClintock Drive. MIDC is providing drive-up testing from 9:00 am to noon for COVID-19 for qualifying residents and other qualifying patients. I’m told they performed thirteen (13) oral swab tests today and sent them to Quest for processing. To find out if you qualify and should be tested call (630) 655-8032 or (630) 654-4201. Do not just go to the tent site – you cannot be tested until you first call-in and qualify for a test!

Several doctors have volunteered to try to make a wellness House Call visit to our seniors or mobility challenged residents who do not have a doctor to call. (If you are a patient of a doctor or medical practice, of course, call them first and rely on their care and instructions.) If you do not have a doctor, these dedicated Burr Ridge professionals may be able to perform a wellness check for you - at no charge. They will not be able to diagnose or test for COVID-19. They are: Dr. Farah Fakouri, MD (630-706-0230), Dr. Katy Schmelka, MD (312-835-9973), Dr. Taaha Shakir, MD (917-686-5676), and Dr. Yaser Wafai (773-991-0000), MD.
