03-23-2020 A MESSAGE FROM MAYOR TOM GIORDANO - Coronavirus Update

The New Jersey Department of Health has reported 1,914 confirmed coronavirus cases in the State, including 20 deaths. Bergen County has 457 confirmed cases, and today I was informed that a second resident of the Borough of Waldwick was confirmed to have coronavirus. This resident is a male, no other information was made public. Northwest Bergen Regional Health Commission will work to identify and contact others this individual was in contact with that may be at risk of contracting the virus.
 
If you are feeling sick with a cough and fever, please stay home and call your healthcare provider for guidance on how to manage your symptoms. If you can manage your symptoms from home, please do so.
 
The Waldwick Ambulance Corps and the Waldwick Police Department are in need of personal protective equipment (PPE), all which can be donated to the Waldwick Ambulance Corps. Please contact the ambulance corps at [email protected] if you can provide:

  • N95 masks
  • Disinfectant (Lysol wipes, spray, etc.)
  • Surgical masks
  • Surgical gowns
 
Per the Governor’s Executive Order, all residents are to stay at home or at their place of residence unless they are leaving for the following reasons:
  • Obtaining goods or services from essential retail businesses;
  • Obtaining takeout or food beverages from restaurants;
  • Seeking medical attention, essential social services, or assistance from law enforcement;
  • Visiting family or close friends, caretakers, or romantic partners;
  • Reporting to or performing their job;
  • Walking, running, or engaging in outdoor activities with immediate family, caretakers, household members, or romantic partners;
  • Leaving for an educational, religious, or political reason;
  • Leaving because of a reasonable fear for health or safety; or
  • Leaving at the direction of law enforcement or other government agency.

  • Administration Building/Council Chambers closed to the public.  The public can reach the Borough by phone 201-652-5300 or by email [email protected].
  • Borough parks, park pavilions, gazebos, comfort stations and playgrounds
  • Borough Recycle Center
  • Senior Center/Ambulance Corps Meeting Room, Wellness Clinic and Pistol Range
  • Waldwick Public Library
  • All public and Board of Education recreational fields, all school grounds, playgrounds, tennis courts and basketball courts including all organized sports activities within all Board of Education parks/fields as well a recreational activities run by the Borough or Board of Education
  • All public meetings of non-essential municipal boards and committees
  • Municipal Court
