COUNTY ORDER UPDATED
On Saturday, March 21, LADPH issued an enhanced Health Officer Order to reconcile elements in the March 19 Order to make it consistent with the Governor’s Order. The enhanced Order prohibits all gatherings and events, and clarifies that golf courses and personal grooming services (including hair and nail salons) are non-essential services that are closed. REMINDER – FOLLOW COUNTY ORDERS - PRACTICE SOCIAL DISTANCING WHILE OUTDOORS
The City is receiving reports of large numbers of people enjoying the outdoor resources in the Malibu area such as trails and beaches (as they are elsewhere in the County). The County order requires that social distancing (6 feet between people) be practiced at all times while outdoors, including in the grocery store, on the beach or on the trails.
The City does not own or operate the County beaches, California State Parks, Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority trails and parks, or the State-owned Malibu Pier and Point Dume Nature Preserve, or National Park Service owned areas including Solstice Canyon. . The City shares the concerns about the need to limit visitors and crowds. The City is working with State and County elected officials and urging them to address the issue of people not abiding by social distancing guidelines while using outdoor spaces and stay at home orders.
The City of Malibu urges all residents to follow the County Order and stay home in order to slow the spread of Coronavirus and protect vulnerable groups. Vulnerable groups, including seniors and people with underlying health conditions must stay home. The County Order does not prohibit people from outdoor activities such as hiking, walking, shopping at essential businesses, so long as all persons practice the County’s guidelines on social distancing and handwashing.

DISTRICT ELECTIONS HEARING TIMELINES SUSPENDED
Late Friday, Governor Newsom issued an executive order suspending timeframes for public hearings required by jurisdictions, including the City of Malibu, that are in the process of changing or considering changing from at-large elections to district elections until such time as social distancing is no longer mandated. The order also extends the deadlines for certain responsibilities related to the Presidential Primary Election that could risk undermining social distancing measures. ESSENTIAL INFRASTRUCTURE WORKERS DEFINED
Following Governor Newsom’s “Stay at Home” order on March 19 directing all residents, except those needed to maintain continuity of operations of essential critical infrastructure sectors and those critical to protect health and well-being of all Californians. the State Public Health Officer has published a list of “Essential Critical Infrastructure Workers” to help define those businesses and organizations deemed essential and, therefore, permitted to remain open and operational. RESTRICTIONS ON LOCAL TRUCK DELIVERIES LIFTED – On Friday, March 20, In order to help the flow of food and other vital necessities available for Malibu residents, City Manager Reva Feldman, in her role as Emergency Services Director, removed any restrictions on when stores in Malibu can get deliveries.

SENIORS – All seniors and those with chronic conditions are strongly urged to home-isolate. The Malibu Senior Center is closed, but Dial-a-Ride is operating for seniors needing transportation to medical appointments or other necessary locations. Reservations can be made by calling 424-346-8444. Dial-a-Ride program hours are Monday through Wednesday, 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, and Thursday and Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

CORONAVIRUS PREPAREDNESS AND RESPONSE
The City of Malibu continues to monitor the status of the Coronavirus and implement measures to protect public health and safety and is doing everything possible to support vulnerable community members. There are currently no known cases of Coronavirus in Malibu. The City continues to follow the recommendations of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LADPH), California Office of Emergency Services (CALOES) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and is taking steps to reduce the likelihood of community spread. 

Residents are encouraged to be prepared with three weeks of food, medication, and toiletries on hand for your family and pets in case you need to stay home. Residents should also connect with neighbors, particularly seniors or those with underlying health conditions, to see if they need help in any way. These individuals are at higher risk and Governor Newsom is calling for all seniors and individuals with chronic conditions to home-isolate.
