Traffic Enforcement Stop Leads To Arrest For Gun Possession

26100 PC – Loaded Firearm in Motor Vehicle
25850(c)(6) PC - Carrying Loaded Firearm

SUSPECT: Michel, Juan - 21 year old, Phoenix, Arizona resident

NARRATIVE: 

On Saturday, March 21, 2020; two Officers from the Pomona Police Department's, Major Crimes Task Force were in the area of 2400 S. Garey Ave. when they noticed a car with dark window tint that had made an illegal U-turn. Officers followed the car and witnessed a third violation when the driver of the car failed to signal while entering a freeway on-ramp. Officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop and contacted four occupants in the car. During the contact, the front right passenger who was identified as, Juan Michel told Officers he had a loaded handgun in his front pocket. He was removed from the car and a .45 caliber handgun was located on him. He was cooperative during the investigation and was arrested without further incident. He was charged with the above listed charges.
