Advisory

March 21, 2020 Coronavirus update from Burr Ridge Mayor Gary Grasso.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM MAYOR GRASSO ON COVID-19 / CORONAVIRUS March 21, 2020 STAY-AT-HOME ORDER EFFECTIVE TODAY AT 5:00 PM Governor Pritzker’s Stay-At-Home Order takes effect at 5:00 pm today. Yesterday, the Governor asked all Mayors to attend a conference call with him. Over 1,000 of us listened to the Governor inform the state’s mayors that the stay-at-home order is intended to save lives – and that calm and resolve should be the standard in our municipalities to assure that the Order achieves its goal. I support the Governor’s strong approach and accept his willingness to take extraordinary action to implement the number 1 job of government – assure your health & safety. Continue to refer to www.burr-ridge.gov for up-to-date information about this Order. Staff is working to keep current and our Police are patrolling and answering all calls for service to keep you safe and protected. PLEASE GIVE US YOUR CONTACT INFO. Times like these justify us having it to keep you informed. Sign up for Burr Ridge Alerts, especially Nixle messages. Go to www.burr-ridge.gov and you’ll find a portal to Burr Ridge Alerts – and sign up! Get connected. Our Brookhaven Market will be taking grocery orders online – www.brookhavenmarket.com. They will shop for you (given them your list), and bring your order out to your car! They will deliver too. If you prefer to still shop in person, the best times to shop are right as they open – 7:00 a.m., and at 8:30 p.m. before they close at 9:00 p.m. They will be doing their best to remain fully stocked for our Burr Ridge Community! In addition, I will soon be able to tell our seniors about a program the staff and I are devising to allow seniors to call a hotline or email the village to place orders and they will be delivered by volunteers from our places of worship. Yesterday, I also outlined an old medical practice – the house call – that my neighbor Dr. Farah Fakouri suggested be used for volunteer medical visits to those residents who cannot or do not want to go out, but need a doctor to see them. We are moving forward with this volunteer program. These dedicated professionals will have protective equipment including masks to provide screenings but will not be able to test for COVID-19. I am working to get a roster of volunteers and a hotline for residents to arrange volunteer house calls. If any doctor or physician wants to volunteer, please text my cell: (312) 498-3202 or send me an email: [email protected]. Please call your neighbors who are elderly or those with mobility issues and ask what you can do for them – while keeping strict social distancing. Let them know you’re thinking of them. While we must remain physically distanced, we should lean-in and be especially social and caring. In this fight, we are all family – and Family First is my motto. Alone, we can do so little; Together we can do so much… -- Helen Keller STAY VIGILANT, STAY RESOLVED, STAY SAFE & CALM – AND STAY HOME
