03-19-2020 A MESSAGE FROM MAYOR TOM GIORDANO - CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) UPDATE

Today, it was announced that an additional 80 residents of Bergen County tested positive for coronavirus, bringing the Bergen County total to 195. The total positive cases in the State of New Jersey is now 742, which includes nine deaths. Most concerning is the report that the hospitals in our area are already facing staffing shortages due to the quarantining of health professionals, as well as a limited supply of personal protective equipment for health professionals and first responders. It must be the goal of every Waldwick Resident to help “flatten the curve” so that our hospital system and first responders can appropriately care for those with coronavirus.

Now is the time to redouble your efforts to follow the CDC guidelines on maintaining a distance of at least 6 feet from those around you, washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, covering your cough or sneeze, and staying home when you are sick.
