The Monterey Park Police Department became aware of a possible ‘spoofing’ scam being perpetrated on local residents. The callers are identifying themselves as Southern California Edison employees from the ‘Disconnect Department’ and requesting payment to avoid disconnect.

Please be wary of scammers who may be taking advantage of the #COVID19 outbreak to send phishing emails, automated calls, texts or social media posts. As a reminder, we don't have a "Disconnection Department." Know the signs: http://sce.com/scamalert
