Email Reporting

Good Morning,

Starting today we are going to roll out a modified version of on-line reporting. The goal is to eliminate residents from arriving at the police station to report non-emergency calls for service. (Face to Face contact, social distancing) It will also apply to sending officers to your residence to gather information for non-emergency calls.

As an example of this, let’s take a common call for service such as - fraudulent activity observed on your credit card account. The cc company wants you to document the fraud with your local police department.

1.) You will simply call our non-emergency number (732-531-1800) provide the call taker with your name, address and phone number like normal.
2.) The call taker will then assign you a case number and provide it to you.
3.) You will then email OTPD at ( [email protected] )and place the case number in the subject line and enter the information in the body of the email.
4.) Please include all the information you have gathered and attach any documents that are associated with the investigation. (take a photo of the documents if you can't scan it and attach them to the email)
5.) Once this information is received at the station, an officer will be assigned to generate a report and follow up with you to confirm the information and ask any additional questions.

Please stay home, wash your hands and practice social distancing so we can flatten the curve and get through this moment in time!
