NARRATIVE:

On March 18th 2020 at approximately 9:56 pm, patrol officers responded to the Middlebrook Bar, located at 1464 State Highway 35, for an alarm call. Information was received by dispatch that a male subject was actively attempting to force entry into the closed business. The subject had fled the area prior to officers arriving on scene. A short time later, dispatch received another call for service at the Phillips 66 Gas Station, located at 1418 State Highway 35, a short distance from the original call location. This call for service involved a subject assaulting the gas station attendant at that location. Officers then responded to the gas station and a search for the involved subject ensued. Sergeant Melody and Officer Schoch were able to locate the accused subject hiding in a fenced in property adjacent to the gas station. The subject was taken into custody and ultimately identified as 33 year old male, Jonathan Rahal of Ocean Township.

With information developed at both scenes, officers were able to determine Rahal was the subject who had attempted to make entry to the Middlebrook Bar. Further investigation also revealed that at the gas station, Rahal had charged at the gas station attendant and punched him repeatedly in the head and face while telling the attendant to give him money.

Rahal was ultimately charged with Attempted Burglary and Robbery. He was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution by our agency pending future court appearances.
