Winter Storm Warning until 06:00PM Thursday

...WINTRY WEATHER RETURNING TODAY THROUGH THURSDAY... .A complex storm system approaching New Mexico from the west will bring showers and thunderstorms to the region today through Thursday. Snow levels will fall late this afternoon and moreso Wednesday night as colder air spreads from west to east over the state. Accumulating snow will be likely over the higher terrain of the western and northern mountains. Snow should taper off by late Thursday afternoon.

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches, except 6 to 12 inches above 7500 feet. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.

* WHERE...Tusas Mountains Including Chama, Jemez Mountains, Northern Sangre de Cristo Mountains and Southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

* WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to 6 PM MDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

* AFFECTED AREAS: JEMEZ MOUNTAINS ... NORTHERN SANGRE DE CRISTO MOUNTAINS ... SOUTHERN SANGRE DE CRISTO MOUNTAINS ... TUSAS MOUNTAINS INCLUDING CHAMA
