Please be prepared to answer basic questions regarding travel or potential exposure when dealing with Police, Fire and EMS. First Responders must take careful strides to avoid exposure to COVID-19.
The North Castle Police Department wants to make our community aware of a procedure we are following in addition to other area First Responders, which include Police, Fire and EMS agencies. This procedure is based upon guidance issued by the US CDC.
Be prepared to hear some or all of the following questions when calling the North Castle Police Department or if you are initiating first contact with a North Castle Police Officer out public:
TRAVEL / EXPOSURE
- Have you traveled outside the US in the past 14 days and if so where?
- Have you been in contact with someone who is now ill with COVID-19?
- Are you, or is a person from where you are calling, under a Home Isolation or Precautionary Home Quarantine?
- Do you have a fever? (Whether measured or perceived)
- Do you have respiratory symptoms?
If symptom questions are answered affirmatively, all First Responder personnel will be apprised so that they may take appropriate safety precautions.
Please understand that the questions are not intended to unnecessarily “pry”, but First Responders must do whatever they can to avoid contracting and potentially spreading COVID-19.
Also be aware that it is likely First Responder agencies may limit the amount of personnel who comes into contact with anyone suspected of COVID-19 exposure or anyone who has flu-like symptoms.
