Municipal Buildings Closed to Public & Other Changes
A MESSAGE FROM THE BOROUGH OF SOUTH RIVER
Mayor John M. Krenzel, in conjunction with the Office of Emergency Management Coordinator, have declared a Public Health Emergency and State of Emergency for the Borough of South River. The regulations outlined below are effective immediately for the Borough of South River.

- All municipal buildings shall be closed to the public. All payments by residents should be made by through the payment drop box, online services or mail.
- All contact with the Borough Departments should be made via telephone, email, fax and/or the Borough notification system.
- The Borough is suspending the requirements for the sale or transfer of residential homes, including the Certificate of Continued Occupancy.
- This declaration shall serve as an official waiver for the CCO and the sale of transfer or residential property within the Borough.
- All existing inspection appointments are hereby cancelled.
- Permit fees for COO’s that are being cancelled will be refunded.
- All persons or entities that transfer title without these inspections during this emergency do so at their own risk and the Borough of South River disclaims any liability. Homeowners should otherwise voluntarily comply with the three (3) primary safety elements of the home sale instruction sheet provided by the Fire Marshal.
- Work associated with existing or pending permits may continue and be completed without any required municipal inspections. Municipal inspectors will return to inspect these projects and issue CA’s and CO’s once the suspension has been lifted. Pending permits which are ultimately processed will require payment once they are approved.
- Permits must still be filed for all work which typically requires a permit and should be submitted by mail to the Construction Office at 48 Washington Street, South River, NJ.
- All Committee meetings of the Borough of South River are hereby cancelled until further notice.
