Advisory

Update regarding Coronavirus from Burr Ridge Mayor Grasso. March 17, 2020.

UPDATE REGARDING CORONAVIRUS FROM
MAYOR GARY GRASSO
I was informed this afternoon that 22 confirmed cases of coronavirus have originated at Chateau Senior Living on Madison Street in Willowbrook; 18 of these cases are residents of the facility while four have been identified in facility staff. A single case was confirmed on Sunday. The State of Illinois’ Department of Public Health (IPDH) and DuPage County Health Department (DCHD) are currently on site performing additional testing and are performing contact follow up protocol. All residents who have been identified as positive are being managed appropriately in the facility to reduce the ongoing spread of disease, and the identified staff are at home. The staff of the DCHD
will continue to work with the Center for Disease Control (CDC), IDPH, and leadership at Chateau, who  have  been  great  partners  in  this  difficult  situation,  to  continue  the  ongoing  contact investigation. Thus far, there have been no confirmed cases of coronavirus in Burr Ridge.

If you have been to Chateau Senior Living in the last 30 days please self-quarantine in your home.

Call me if you have concerns (312.498.3202). I will keep your confidence,

The Village has taken several precautions to ensure that critical municipal services remain online through this emergency while ensuring that our staff and buildings are safe for use. Staffing at
Village Hall has been reduced to a minimum, while Public Works personnel will be working on rotating shifts over the next few weeks to ensure that the Village’s water infrastructure is monitored and the streets remain clear. All Police services remain in place as normal; if any issue related to a Police matter is non-emergency in nature, please call the Police Department before going to the station.

Trustee & Mayor Pro Tem Guy Franzese has been kept fully informed of this situation should  I  become  ill.  Chief  Madden  and  Deputy  Chief  Loftus  have  been  in  contact  with  our neighboring law enforcement offices to be sure that there is police coverage in our village and theirs should they or patrolmen or patrolwomen become ill; at this time, none have.

The Governor has declared this situation a disaster, and as such prohibited gatherings of over 50 persons. I have contacted all houses of worship located in Burr Ridge and have received much
encouragement from the strength and diligence of all congregants. Each of these places of worship is  practicing  all  the  recommendations  being  advocated,  including  cancelling  gatherings  and conducting  smaller  services.  Staff  and  I  been  in  routine  contact  with  our  senior  centers  and confirmed they all are instituting proactive health measure. Our two major fitness centers, Lifetime Fitness and Five Seasons, have temporarily closed while this emergency persists.

I have also been in contact with area businesses who have been affected by the Governor’s order to cease dine-in services for the time being. Please consider purchasing a gift card from these
establishments for future use so that they may be supported during this time.

Please  continue  to  be  vigilant  and  practice  social  distancing  and  complete  hand  washing.  Use gloves, minimize hand shaking or hugs, and cover those sneezes and coughs with elbows. Find good books, puzzles, or favorite movies – and stay home for a while. There is need to be concerned – but you should be confident that the risk is low, but there. Burr Ridge is a strong and resilient community that will overcome any obstacle. It is through our collective strength and vigilance that Burr Ridge will remain and always be A Very Special Place.
