Covina, CA In consultation with officials from the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health, the City of Covina continues to assess the impact of COVID-19/Coronavirus and take actions to protect the health and well-being of our community. To date, there have been no documented cases of COVID-19 within the City of Covina. As noted in the City’s March 13th communication, the City has taken several actions to protect local health and reduce transmission of COVID-19, including the closure of some public facilities and the postponement of planned events.

On March 16, 2020, the City’s Interim City Manager/Director of Emergency Services proclaimed the existence of a local emergency within the City of Covina. This action elevated the City’s Emergency Operations Center to Level II which will continue to address any challenges in dealing with this public health issue and ensure that appropriate resources are available for the community. The proclamation shall continue to exist for a period of 7 days or until the Covina City Council acts to ratify or terminate the proclamation. The City Council will meet on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 and be asked to consider this emergency proclamation.

Additionally, the City continues to be in regular communication with other agencies and local community organizations, including the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health and regional healthcare provider Emanate Health. Representatives from Emanate Health will be on hand at the City Council’s March 17 meeting to provide information on local healthcare resources and preparation efforts. This presentation will be livestreamed via the Citys social media accounts and public access television stations. For additional information, please visit Emanate Health’s website at https://www.emanatehealth.org/.

In accordance with Governor Newsom’s Executive Order N-25-20, the City also encourages the use of technology and social distancing practices to facilitate participation in public meetings. As such, community members are encouraged to view City Meetings in real time via the City’s website (www.covinaca.gov) or public access television station (Spectrum Channel 29 or Frontier 42). Appropriate social distancing measures will be in place at City Hall during regularly scheduled public meetings including satellite viewing spaces if necessary.

Keeping the community informed is the City’s highest priority during this public health crisis. We will continue to provide updated releases and new information as it becomes available.
