San Leandro Announces Suspension of All Non-Essential City Services Libraries, Community Centers; Most Other City Facilities to be Tem

San Leandro, CA: In accordance with the Alameda County Public Health Officer’s Order that was issued today, the City announced that all non-essential City-operated facilities will be temporarily closed to the public. Closures will include all City-operated libraries, community centers, aquatics facilities, and City Hall. Other functions such as the Permit Center, Business Licenses and the Public Works Services Center will be extremely limited. This action is expected to remain in effect through April 7th.

Essential services such as Police, Fire protection, and infrastructure maintenance will continue uninterrupted. The City will also be working hard with our partners in the non-profit sector to provide essential services to those who are in need.

As part of the Public Health Officer’s order, the public is directed to shelter-in-place except when seeking to receive certain essential services, such as accessing healthcare or acquiring food or other critical supplies. City leadership, including the Mayor and City Council, strongly encourages San Leandrans to adhere to the County’s directives to slow the spread of coronavirus and protect public health.

We understand the community may have questions or seek further clarification regarding what activities are allowed. Additional information can be found on Alameda County’s website: www.acgov.org and then following the links to their COVID-19 webpage.  Heavy traffic on these websites may temporarily impact their functionality.

The City Manager today also proclaimed a state of emergency. This proclamation enables the City to mobilize resources and access emergency funding should it become available.
