Governor's Exec. Order - Crowd Limiting Measures

TRI-STATE WIDE MEASURES TO BEGIN AT 8 PM TONIGHT
Governor Murphy has joined the governors of New York and Connecticut in a tri-state pronouncement which includes the follows highlights:
-The three States will limit crowd capacity for recreational and social gatherings to 50 people effective by 8 PM tonight, Monday, 3/16.
-Restaurants and bars will close for on-premise service and move to take-out and delivery only, effective 8 PM tonight.
-Movie theaters, gyms and fitness center, racetracks and casinos will be closed until further notice, effective 8 PM tonight.
The intent of these strong measures is to establish a uniform approach to social distancing, in order to slow the spread of COVID-19 throughout the tri-state area. Governor Murphy announced this afternoon that Pennsylvania will also be implementing similar measures.

Township Meeting Changes

-Cancellation of Planning Board & Zoning Board Meetings
The Montgomery Twp. Committee will meet telephonically on Thursday, March 19 at 7 PM. This is a social distancing measure to avoid a public gathering due to the COVID-19 emergency. Should the public have any questions or comments, they may be emailed to the Clerk’s office in advance at: [email protected]
The chairpersons of the Montgomery Township Planning Board and Zoning Board of Adjustment have conferred with Mayor Sadaf Jaffer and decided to cancel these meetings until further notice. Last Friday, an announcement cancelling all other Twp. volunteer Boards and Commissions until further notice. Please check the Township website for further updates.

Playgrounds Closed

Township Parks’ Playgrounds
To prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus, Montgomery Township playground apparatus (swings, climbing sets, zip lines, etc.) is off limits until further notice. The purpose is to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus through contact with contaminated surfaces and to discourage the congregating of individuals wishing to use the apparatus. Private communities with playgrounds are encouraged to implement similar precautions.
Montgomery Twp. Parks and Pathways are still open and people are encouraged to walk outside, jog, ride a bike, etc. Please do not congregate and do maintain social distancing measures. See: https://recreation.montgomery.nj.us/parks/ Thank you!
