During the continued COVID-19 precautions, we are instituting some general guidelines for our first responders, which includes police, fire and ems employees. These guidelines are consistent with CDC recommendations as well as other State agencies. Our goal is to assure that first responders are able to be on the job and respond to emergency calls for service when needed. Therefore, it is important to limit contact with potential carriers of the virus where possible. We would ask our residents for their assistance as well as their patience during this period. The following procedures will take effect immediately until further notice:

1. We would request that residents come into the station lobby to make minor reports if at all possible.

Officers who respond to calls for service, will refrain from entering homes to take non-emergency type reports. Officers can take those reports outside the dwelling, while maintaining safe distances recommended by the CDC. Those would include things such as minor larcenies, neighbor complaints, non-injury accidents, damage to property, etc.

2. If you develop symptoms such as fever, cough, and/or difficulty breathing, and have been in close contact with a person known to have COVID-19 or have recently traveled from an area with ongoing spread of COVID-19, stay home and call your healthcare provider. Older patients and individuals who have severe underlying medical conditions or are immunocompromised should contact their healthcare provider early, even if their illness is mild. If you have severe symptoms, such as persistent pain or pressure in the chest, new confusion or inability to arouse, or bluish lips of face, seek care immediately or call 911.
