March 15, 2020 COVID-19 Statement from the Mayor

Dear Manville Residents,

During this challenging time, caused by the COVID-19 virus, the Borough of Manville will continue to provide services in the most responsible manner possible. Our priority is to protect the health of the public and our employees. To that end, we have taken a number of steps to ensure everyone’s safety and the continuity of services provided by your municipal government.
We hope the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) below will help to address some of your questions:

1.) Will municipal offices be open for business?
Beginning Monday, March 16th until further notice access to the municipal building will be restricted to the front lobby. In an effort to limit the need to access the building residents are encouraged to utilize email and phone to contact borough employees. Borough Hall operating hours will remain 9:00am-5:00pm unless conditions or circumstances warrant a change. Any payments, including tax or sewer, may be left in the drop box at Borough Hall. Public Works Facility located at Gladys Avenue will be closed to the public. Any concerns can be communicated to [email protected] or via phone at 908-725-5512. There will be no change in services provided by DPW.

2.) What about municipal meetings?
Residents are encouraged to check the Borough website for updates regarding municipal meetings, which are subject to change based on guidance from public health officials.

3.) How can I get more information?
We urge all residents at this time to stay in communication with us by visiting the
Borough of Manville website at www.manvillenj.org/ We also encourage residents to sign up for Nixle alerts via https://local.nixle.com/register/ or by visiting our Nixle update site at https://local.nixle.com/zipcode/08844/ Anyone utilizing Facebook can follow by liking the Manville OEM page.

4.) What advice do you have to help residents stay healthy?
1. “Social distancing” actions are strongly urged. While such actions will not eliminate this virus, they can help slow down its spread. Slowing COVID-19 spread in our community will help our health care system better assist those who become ill during this time.
2. Please be patient during this time and avoid social gatherings and close person-to-person contact where exposure is possible. The Governor has prohibited large public gatherings of over 250 persons.
3. Practice good hygiene, including frequent hand washing, cover coughs and sneezes with your elbows or tissues, maintain a distance of 6 ft. and do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth.
4. Pick up the phone and talk to neighbors, family and friends, who may be feeling distressed, especially seniors. We are in this together, even if not so much in person!
5. Stay home if you are sick until you are well. “Well” means no fever (must be fever-free for 24 hours without medication) and no cough. If you are feeling ill, call your doctor’s office.

More information will be made available to the Manville public as further evaluation of the situation occurs. Please check the Borough website for updates.
