The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a

* Flood Advisory for... Cherokee County in southeastern Kansas... Newton County in southwestern Missouri... McDonald County in southwestern Missouri... Barry County in southwestern Missouri... Lawrence County in southwestern Missouri... Jasper County in southwestern Missouri...

* Until 945 PM CDT Saturday.

* At 943 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated moderate to heavy rain which will cause minor flooding in the advisory area. Recent rainfall amounts of up to 1 to 1.5 inches of rain has fallen. There have also been reports from emergency management in Cherokee County, KS of some smaller low water crossings flooding.

* Creeks, streams, and low water crossings will be especially susceptible to the dangers of flooding. Locations in the advisory include... Joplin... Carthage... Neosho... Webb City... Big Sugar Creek State Park... Roaring River State Park... Monett... Aurora... Carl Junction... Mount Vernon... Baxter Springs... Columbus... Cassville... Galena... Oronogo... Seneca... Marionville... Granby... Anderson... Carterville... This advisory includes but is not limited to the following low water crossings... Highway 43 at Buffalo Creek west of Anderson... North Main and Murphy Boulevard In Joplin... Business Highway 60 just north of Neosho... Highway 97 at The Spring River north of Stotts City... and Highway 37 at The Spring River southwest of Avilla. Additional rainfall of 0.5 to 1.5 inches is expected over the area, especially for counties along far southern Missouri near the Arkansas border. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
