City of Grosse Pointe Park Announces COVID-19 Mitigation Measures

There is no intention on our part to overreact to the Coronavirus (COVID-19). However, it’s incumbent upon your local officials to plan for the potential community transmission of COVID-19 and to take the necessary precautions to protect our residents and staff, and to take the necessary actions to slow the transmission of this virus. Protecting the health, safety and welfare of the community is our paramount concern.
At the recommendation of the Wayne County Health Department, Governor Whitmer’s Emergency Declaration and local public safety officials, the City of Grosse Pointe Park is limiting certain activities and operations to mitigate risks of the COVID-19 virus. The following operational changes will be in effect until April 6th, 2020, when at that time we will reassess any potential changes.

1. All City Residents are discouraged from conducting business within City Hall including the Municipal Court that can otherwise be conducted via U.S. Mail, Brown Drop-Box outside City Hall or online payment at www.Grossepointepark.org. Elderly and at-risk populations should avoid City Hall if at all possible. If you have other questions please call and or email the City instead of visiting City Hall.

2. Grosse Pointe Park Municipal Court has postponed their scheduled court date of March 18th to either April 8th or 15th.

3. Paul & Carol C. Schaap & the Okulski Theater will not be open for showings including theater rentals.

4. Meade Fitness Center will be closed.

5. Tompkins Center activities and events have been postponed/cancelled.

6. Daddy Daughter Dance postponed.

7. Dinner with Mary Lou postponed

8. Classes and activities held at the Lavins Center are postponed/cancelled.

9. Lindell Lodge rentals are postponed/cancelled

10. Public Safety is coordinating response plans for potential COVID-19 contact with emergency response agencies and healthcare agencies from across the County and State.

These Mitigation Measures have been reviewed and endorsed by the Director of Public Safety, Mayor and City Manager.
