Advisory

Supervisor Slater and the Yorktown Town Board have declared a Local State of Emergency in the Town of Yorktown (COVID-19 response).

***SEE LAST PARAGRAPH FOR EDITED INFORMATION***

On Friday, March 13th at or about 10:00 a.m., Supervisor Slater and the Yorktown Town Board declared a Local State of Emergency. This declaration is in response to a Town of Yorktown resident being infected with COVID-19, and the likelihood that future positve diagnoses will occur in our community.  This state of emergency gives the supervisor the authorization to issue emergency orders to "protect life and property," which specifically will allow town government a broader scope to limit and regulate places of amusement and assembly.  This is a proactive step in allowing the Town of Yorktown to better protect and serve all who live, work and travel through the Town of Yorktown.  As has been discussed in recent days by Supervisor Slater and Town of Yorktown Chief of Police Robert Noble, please remember to:

Use excellent hygiene methods (washing hands several times during the day for 20 seconds at a time, hands away from face, etc.), as well as proper social distance measures.

If you are not feeling well, contact your health provider.

If you are not feeling well, please consider staying home and away from public areas.

If you believe that you have contracted COVID-19, please notify the New York State Department of Health at 888-364-3065 or dial 211.

With the exception of in-progress emergencies, the Town of Yorktown Police Department will be making COVID-19 inquiries prior to resonding to any residence or place of business within the Town of Yorktown.

Thank you to all who are taking the lead in attempting to combat the spread of this coronavirus.  ***THIS STATE OF EMERGENCY DOES NOT RESTRICT ANY RESIDENT FROM USING PUBLIC ROADWAYS OR FACILITIES.  No curfew has been put into effect, nor has it been considered at this time.  Please go about your normal routines each day while being mindful of the precautions suggested*** Thank you to all who are not panicking and have been practicing the suggestions mentioned above.  The Town of Yorktown will continue to proactively communicate known facts as they become available, in order to dispel misinformation.  Town Supervisor Slater can be contacted at 962-5722 ext.201.  The Westchester County Department of Health can be contacted at 813-5159 or 424-0209 after 4:30pm
