Attempted Murder and Assault with a Deadly Weapon Press Release, Case #NP20-0875

Suspect: Hispanic Male Adult, 36-year-old, Novato resident.

On Friday, March 6, 2020 at 7:31 AM, Novato Police Department responded to the 800 Block of Diablo Avenue to assist a 20-year-old male victim, who had been stabbed multiple times inside an apartment. The victim was transported to a local hospital by Novato Fire Paramedics and is in stable condition. An investigation was conducted to locate the scene of where the stabbing occurred, as it was not immediately known. Novato Police Department Investigators responded to assume the investigation.

At 10:24 AM, Officers and Detectives from the Novato Police Department located the crime scene and found the 36-year-old male suspect inside an apartment, suffering from self-inflicted knife wounds. The suspect appeared to have significant injuries and was immediately transported by Novato Fire Paramedics to a local trauma center for treatment.  

The initial investigation revealed that the suspect and the victim are roommates. The suspect attacked the victim with a knife while he was asleep. The victim fled the apartment during the attack to seek help. The victim contacted a co-worker, who called 911 to report the incident. At this time, the suspect is stable condition and under guard at a local hospital. Once medically cleared, he will be transported and booked at the Marin County Jail. The suspect’s name will be released upon being booked into Marin County Jail.
