News Release: Police Searching for Suspect in Strong-Arm Robbery at Pharmacy
Police are looking to identify a suspect who robbed the CVS Pharmacy in the Midtown neighborhood of Palo Alto.
On Sunday, March 1, 2020 at around 12:03 p.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a report of a strong-arm robbery in progress at 2701 Middlefield Road. The preliminary investigation revealed a male suspect passed a note to an employee in the pharmacy demanding prescription drugs. The suspect indicated he had a gun. The employee loaded an undisclosed amount of prescription drugs in the suspect’s backpack. The suspect took the backpack and walked out of the store.
No one was injured during the robbery. Police responded and searched the area, but could not locate the suspect. Detectives are actively investigating this incident. The employee describes the suspect as being a white male between 25 to 35 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 175 pounds. The suspect wore a black and purple Colorado Rockies baseball hat, dark sunglasses, a black sweater or jacket over a blue shirt and carried a grey backpack. Detectives do not believe this suspect is related to the armed robbery that took place at the Safeway store in Midtown on January 10. We have released surveillance video of the suspect inside CVS to this news release. You can watch it at https://youtu.be/p_f0INBp0Jk.
