INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision

LOCATION: Dale Evans Parkway and Johnson Road, Apple Valley

VICTIM(S): Witheld pending family notification


SUMMARY:
On Sunday, March 1st, at approximately 08:12 p.m., deputies from the Apple Valley Police Station and emergency personnel from the Apple Valley Fire Protection District responded to the area of Dale Evans Parkway and Johnson Road, following the report of a traffic collision between a vehicle and a semi-truck and trailer.

Through investigation, deputies determined a silver Ford Focus was traveling north on Dale Evans Parkway approaching the intersection of Johnson Road. The driver of the semi-truck and trailer was traveling westbound on Johnson Road crossing the intersection of Dale Evans Parkway. The driver of the Ford Focus failed to stop at the stop sign at Johnson Road, causing the vehicle to collide into the trailer the semi-truck was pulling. A citizen driving by the location, called Sheriff's Dispatch to report the collision. The female driver of the Ford focus suffered fatal injuries.

Investigators from the Apple Valley Police Station’s Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T) responded and conducted the investigation. The intersection of Dale Evans Parkway and Johnson Road was closed for approximately four hours while deputies conducted the investigation.

The collision is currently under investigation by the Apple Valley Police Department, and deputies are seeking additional witnesses.
