Pedestrian Seriously Injured After Being Struck by Sanitation Truck
Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a pedestrian in Huntington Station last night.
A Town of Huntington sanitation vehicle, a 1993 International truck, was traveling southbound on New York Avenue, at the intersection of West 11th Street, when the vehicle struck a pedestrian in the roadway at approximately 7:40 p.m.
The pedestrian, Guillermo Ramirez, 61, of Huntington Station, was transported via Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The truck driver was not injured.
Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
