Three Arrested After Early Morning Investigation

 
INCIDENT TYPE: Gun Arrest
 
INCIDENT LOCATION: Michigan Street/ Sherman Drive.
 
INDIANAPOLIS- On Friday, February 28, 2020 at approximately 12:20 a.m., while IMPD East District Late Shift officers were patrolling in the area of Michigan Street and Sherman Drive.  Officers observed four subjects acting suspiciously entering and exiting the open Marathon Gas Station located at 448 N. Sherman Drive.  East District Late Shift Officers began surveillance of the subjects and observed the subjects conceal something in the rear of the vehicle. After several minutes, officers conducted a traffic stop after the vehicle left the business.
 
The officers came into contact with two adult males and two juveniles.  During the investigation officers located two handguns and one AK-47 style 7.62 caliber rifle with a drum style magazine. IMPD Crime Gun Intelligence Center (CGIC) Detectives responded to assist with the investigation. Two ski masks were also located in the vehicle, along with nearly 100 bills of counterfeit 100 dollar bills, and shotgun ammunition.
 
19-year-old Christopher Armstrong and two juveniles were arrested. The three were charged with Operating a Vehicle Never Received a license and Dangerous Possession of a firearm. The Marion County Prosecutors Office will review the case and make a charging decision.
