Today, February 25th, between the hours 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., the Jackson Police Department conducted controlled gunfire in the areas of Westwood and Forrest Avenue. These test fires were for the implementation of a new Shotspotter System. These shots were fired into a mobile apparatus that was developed to ensure the safety of the officers and the citizens in the community.
If anyone heard shots during this time period, it was the Jackson Police Department along with Shotspotter personnel.
