The Columbia Basin Multi-Agency Citizen Academy will be April 2 through May 21.
The purpose of the Citizens’ Academy is to develop positive relationships between law enforcement and the community through education. Academy participants learn how law enforcement agencies operate and gain an understanding of the challenges facing law enforcement in this rapidly growing community.
Participants in the Citizens’ Academy meet on Thursdays evening from 6 pm to 9 pm, and two Saturdays, 9 am to Noon. Classes will be held at Big Bend Community College.
Classes include:
• History of Law Enforcement
• Use of Force
• Firearms
• Active Shooter
• Traffic Enforcement
• Accident Investigation
• Gang and Drug Investigations
• Neighborhood Watch Programs
• Volunteer Programs
• Tour of MACC Dispatch
• Tour of Grant County Jail
• Demonstration Day
• Plus much more
HOW TO APPLY
Complete and submit the attached application to YOUR community's law enforcement agency. There is no fee to attend.
You must be at least 18 years old and:
• Have no felony convictions
• Have no misdemeanor conviction involving a crime of violence
• Not be the subject of any pending criminal investigation
• Not be the respondent of a No Contact Order or Protection Order
The sponsoring law enforcement agencies seek to fill the Citizen Academy session with a cross section of the community.
You will be notified by the sponsoring agency if you are accepted into the academy.
