INCIDENT: Murder Investigation
LOCATION: 15000 block of Rancherias Rd., Apple Valley
VICTIM: Two-year-old female
SUSPECT: Samuel Beckner, 32 years old, resident of Apple Valley
SUMMARY:
On Thursday, February 20, 2020 at about 8:00 a.m. Apple Valley deputies responded to a medical aid call of a child not breathing. Upon arrival, lifesaving measures were in progress and the child was airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center (LLUMC) for treatment. On Thursday afternoon, detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division were notified that the child was pronounced deceased. Additionally, detectives received information from LLUMC pediatricians that there was evidence of intentional inflicted injury to the child.
Detectives from the Homicide Detail and Crimes Against Children Division responded to conduct the investigation.
Detectives interviewed the victim’s family, including the father of the victim, Samuel Beckner. Following the interview, Beckner was arrested for murder. He was booked at Central Detention Center for Murder and is being held without bail.
