INCIDENT:                PC 288.5(a) – Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Minor
 
LOCATION:              City of Victorville and City of Fullerton                                                    
 
VICTIM:                     12-year-old female
 
SUSPECT:                Joseph Barnum, 44 years old, resident of Salinas
                                     
SUMMARY:
On Friday, December 14, 2019, a now 24-year-old female reported Joseph Barnum sexually abused her when she was a minor.  The victim was abused from the age of seven to twelve-years-old.  Investigators determined the abuse took place in the cities of Fullerton and Victorville.
 
An extensive investigation was conducted with collaboration from deputies from the Victorville Sheriff’s Station and detectives from the Specialized Investigations, Crimes Against Children Detail.  At the conclusion of the investigation, Barnum was arrested and booked at Central Detention Center for continuous sexual abuse of a minor.  His bail was set for $350,000.
