Jackson Police Department has joined Neighbors!!!
We are excited to announce that the Jackson Police Department has joined Neighbors! While this app will not be monitored by law enforcement 24/7, Jackson Police Department can view, post and respond to crime and safety related information posted on the Neighbors app. The Jackson Police can also submit a video request to help with active investigations in your area. By working together, we can all make the City of Jackson a safer community.
You don’t need any Ring devices to use Neighbors, because the company also offers a standalone Neighbors app for iOS and Android devices.

The Neighbors App by Ring is a free app designed to help communities connect and stay informed about what’s going on around them – whether they own a Ring device or not. Millions of users are working together to make neighborhoods safer for their families, friends, and neighbors. When communities work together, safer neighborhoods become a reality.
Residents can download the Neighbors app for free to create their custom neighborhood and use it to stay updated on crime and safety in their local area. Creating a specific neighborhood allows citizens to receive alerts for the specific area they want to receive alerts from.
On the Neighbors Feed, users can interact with 3 types of alerts:
-Posts by residents -News alerts curated by Ring -Law enforcements posts
Residents can stay connected with their community by commenting and sharing information on posts. Residents do not need a Ring device to join the conversation.
In addition, residents can choose to schedule the time and frequency for receiving alerts:
- Always on
- 8:00 AM -8:00 PM
- Off
By setting a neighborhood radius in the Neighbors app and selecting alert types, residents ensure they only receive alerts they want to receive alerts about. Residents can select from the following post categories:
Criminal Activity - Criminal activity involving, theft, damage, illegal entry, or violence.
Suspicious Activity - Attempted criminal activity or unusual behavior that is cause for concern. Unknown Visitor - An unknown person with questionable intent who is on your property.
Safety Awareness - Discussion of potentially dangerous incidents or activity.
Lost Pets - Missing and found pet family members.
No Device Locations The Neighbors Portal does not provide local police with the addresses at which any devices are located without a user’s express consent.
