Jackson Police Chief, Julian Wiser, has promoted Lieutenant John Gause to the rank of Captain in the Patrol Division of the Jackson Police Department. Captain Gause previously was a Shift Commander in the South Precinct and is now the North Precinct Commander of the Jackson Police Department.
Captain Gause has more than twenty-five years of service with the Jackson Police Department and the City of Jackson. Captain Gause was hired by the Jackson Police Department in October of 1994 where he has faithfully served the citizens of Jackson Madison County. Captain Gause has served as an officer in the Patrol Division of the Jackson Police Department; he has served as an officer in the Community Crime Reduction Unit. The Community Crime Reduction Unit’s primary function was to patrol and respond to calls for service in all Public Housing areas in the City of Jackson.
Captain Gause then had the opportunity to serve as a Sergeant in the Jackson Police Department’s Street Crime Unit. This unit’s primary function was to address issues and concerns in high crime areas. This unit focused on violent offenders and street level drug dealers. In 2011, Captain Gause was reassigned as a supervisor to the Gang Enforcement Team and three years later was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in the Patrol Division where he served as a Shift Lieutenant.
Captain Gause also has ten years of service with United States Army. He served six and half years on active duty, one and half years in the Army Reserve, and two years in the Army National Guard. Captain Gause was Honorable Discharged from all three components.
Captain Gause has attended several schools related to Community Oriented Policing and Leadership which have prepared him for this opportunity.
Captain Gause is happily married to his wife of twenty-nine years. They have two adult children who both have served in the United States Armed Forces.
