Wilmington Police arrest three men on gun and drug charges following investigation:
Wilmington Police have arrested three men on gun and drug charges following an investigation.
On February 13 at approximately 6:05 a.m. members of the Safe Streets Task Force as well as other units executed a search warrant in the 1000 block of North Pine Street. Police took 25-year-old Donald Tillman and 35-year-old Curtis Cherry into custody without incident.
Police recovered a loaded .45 caliber handgun, ammunition, 136.8 grams of marijuana, 52 bags of heroin, and $2,118 in currency.
Tillman was charged with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on his own recognizance.
Cherry was charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver
- Maintaining a Drug Property
- Endangering the Welfare of a Child
Through continued investigation, members of the Safe Streets Task Force were able to identify 32-year-old Duane Williams as a third suspect. Warrants were signed and on February 17 patrol officers took Williams into custody without incident.
Williams was charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (3 counts)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver
