Ribbon Cuttings
Director Martin and Coordinator Wolf attended a ribbon cuttings for Hidden Pearl Café at 1250 N. Green St. and an Open House/Mixer at Youth and Family Center of McHenry County at 3430 W. Elm St.
 
Special Events
Planning is underway for the McHenry ShamRocks the Fox Festival March 13-14 at Miller Point.  A parade will be held on Saturday.  Sponsorships and decorated parade entries are still being sought.  Please visit the website McHenryShamROCKStheFox.com for more information on the event.  Parade entry forms are available here ShamRocks Parade Entry Form

Public Works
 
Projects—
  • IDOT Resurfacing Route 31 – Staff recently attended a pre-construction meeting concerning this upcoming project.  Resurfacing of IL Route 31 will occur this Spring.  The project limits are from Shamrock Lane (north limits) to Edgewood Road (south limits).  IDOT and their contractor are scheduled to begin early May and complete the project by late June.  The schedule includes 10 working days of grinding and patching, followed by 5 days of paving.  Notification signs will be provided in advance of mobilization, grinding and paving.  Staff will coordinate with the contractor to provide updates in advance of lane closures when possible.  
 
  • 2020 Road Program – Staff will design and manage this year’s Road Program in-house.  IDOT has approved the plans and specifications.  Work will include removal of the existing asphalt and replacement with 4.0” of new asphalt.  The following streets will be included: Amberwood, Dorchester, Pebble Creek, Westminster, Geneva, and Brighton, all within the Pebble Creek Subdivision.  Bids are due March 12, 2020. Bids will need to be approved through the Public Works Committee prior to final approval by City Council.  The project is expected to start early May.     
 
Street Division—
  • Crews responded to 1 1/2” snow event on Sunday, February 9th, using over 80 tons of salt on the roadways. 
  • Crews responded to a 3 1/2” snow event on February 12th and 13th.
 
 
Police
 
Time Period: Thursday 02/06/2020 thru Wednesday 02/12/2020
 
During this time period the McHenry Police Department:
  • Handled 418 calls for service
  • Investigated 12 Motor Vehicle Accidents
  • Conducted 106 Traffic Stops
  • Conducted over 105 Business Checks and Foot Patrols
  • Handled 7 calls for service involving Domestic Disputes
  • Handled 5 calls for service involving crisis intervention
  • Arrested 6 individuals on State criminal charges
 
Personnel:
 
The following personnel have recently completed the respective years of service with the McHenry Police Department:
  • Officer Robert Klasek – 10 Years
  • Telecommunicator Maureen Doolan – 2 Years
 
Training:
 
Officer Pena and Officer Carey attended 40-Hour Crisis Intervention Officer training hosted by the Streamwood Police Department.  These officers were trained to use their skills and knowledge of mental illness and substance abuse to effectively and safely interact with someone who is experiencing a crisis.
 
Officer Rewiako and Officer Pena attended Transnational Gang Identification and Interdiction training hosted by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
 
School Resource Officer Shafer and School Resource Officer P. Prather attended training on Student Threat Assessments hosted by the McHenry County Mental Health Board.
