UPDATE: warrant obtained for Jack Espinoza JR for E 13th call earlier today

Update at 6:30 PM:
At 11:13 AM on Monday, February 10, 2020, Anchorage Police responded to a residence on the 400-block of E 13th Avenue in reference to a disturbance with a weapon.  Initial indications are that 38-year-old Jack L. Espinoza JR went to the apartment where his girlfriend had been staying.  The tenant of the home refused to allow Espinoza inside.  In response Espinoza broke out a window of the apartment and made entry through it.  While inside Espinoza threatened the tenant with a handgun.  There were no injuries.

When police arrived on scene it was unclear whether or not Espinoza was still inside the residence.  After a perimeter was set up, and the other occupants of the complex were evacuated, officers received information that Espinoza had left prior to police arriving.  Officers made entry into the building and were able to confirm that no one else was inside to include the suspect.

Efforts to locate Espinoza were unsuccessful.  A felony warrant has been obtained for his arrest for the charges of Burglary I, Assault III, and Criminal Mischief IV.  Espinoza is 5’10” tall, 145 pounds with a bald tattooed head and brown eyes.  Anyone with information regarding Espinoza’s whereabouts is asked to call Police Dispatch at 3-1-1 (option #1).  To remain anonymous you may contact Crime Stoppers at 561-STOP or online at www.anchoragecrimestoppers.com.

Update at 1:20 PM:
It has been determined the suspect left the area prior to police arrival.  It has been confirmed that he is not inside the residence; no arrests have been made at this time.

The police perimeter is being broken down and it is safe to return to the area.  For those who were evacuated, thank you for your cooperation and patience while we worked the scene.
