Flood Watch until 09:00AM Thursday

...Flooding Potential Will Continue through Thursday Morning... .The Flood Watch has been extended through Thursday Morning to account for a second round of heavy rainfall that will develop late Tuesday afternoon. 2 to 4 inches of rainfall has already occurred over the watch area over the past 18 hours. Despite a break from the heavy rain on Tuesday, another round of heavy rainfall will begin as early as Tuesday afternoon and continue through Thursday morning. This second round will result in another 2 to 4 inches of rainfall with isolated higher amounts over areas that have already received between 3 to 5 inches. This will result in flooding of low lying areas, creeks, local rivers, and roadways. In addition to areal flood risk over the watch area, the threat of river flooding will increase significantly through during the latter half of the watch period. The Flood Watch is now in effect for

* Portions of East Arkansas, North Mississippi, and West Tennessee, including the following areas, in East Arkansas, Phillips. In North Mississippi, Alcorn, Benton, Calhoun, Chickasaw, Coahoma, Itawamba, Lafayette, Lee, Marshall, Monroe, Panola, Pontotoc, Prentiss, Quitman, Tallahatchie, Tate, Tippah, Tishomingo, Tunica, Union, and Yalobusha. In West Tennessee, Hardin and McNairy.

* Through Thursday morning

* An additional 2 to 4 inches of rainfall with locally higher amounts are possible over saturated soils.

* Low-lying areas and areas adjacent to rivers may flood.
