Hoboken launches youth tennis, girls' volleyball programming

Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla and the City of Hoboken are pleased to announce the launch of recreation tennis, and for the first time, girls’ volleyball for the spring season. The recreation department will offer a new volleyball league to girls in grades 6 – 8 in an eight-week program, and has once again partnered with Tennis Approach to offer group lessons to children ages 6 to 14.

“I’m thrilled our recreation department is expanding opportunities for our youngest residents, and especially our female athletes,” said Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla. “These new sports keep up with the high demand and further improve the quality of life for our children. Thank you to Director Leo Pellegrini and all of our coaches for making these new options possible.”

Since 2018, the City has expanded recreation opportunities for children through the re-launch of the flag football program, the introduction of tennis clinics, the expansion of basketball for children with a new division for girls, and this year the new volleyball league.

Registration will open on a first-come, first-serve basis for both sports at 12:00 pm on Friday, February 14 and will remain open until March 2.  To register, visit http://www.hobokennj.gov/register.

Please note, parents can only register their children for one session per week. Parents may request that their child be placed on a waiting list to take part in additional sessions if space is available. For any questions about the registration process, email [email protected].
