Winter Storm Warning until 11:00PM Tuesday

...LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW OVER PORTIONS OF WESTERN AND CENTRAL NEW MEXICO HIGH TERRAIN THROUGH THIS MORNING... ...COLDER TEMPERATURES, MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW, AND WINDY CONDITIONS TONIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT... .Light to occasionally moderate snow will continue through this morning across the high terrain of central and western New Mexico. Areas most likely to observe accumulations will be found along the central mountain chain. A brief break in the wintry weather is then expected this afternoon, however a more significant winter storm will move over New Mexico tonight through Tuesday night when many areas of northern and central New Mexico can expect moderate to heavy snowfall and colder temperatures. In addition, periods of strong and gusty winds will create areas of blowing snow in central New Mexico. Residents and travelers through much of northern and central New Mexico can expect significant travel impacts tonight through Tuesday night.

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 8 inches, except 8 to 14 inches above 7500 feet. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph tonight and Tuesday.

* WHERE...Much of central, east central, north central, northeast and west central New Mexico.

* WHEN...From 5 PM this afternoon to 11 PM MST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow may reduce visibility below one mile at times.
