Advisory

Flood Warning until 09:45PM Thursday

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Flood Warning for... Henderson County in western North Carolina...

* Until 945 PM EST.

* At 350 PM EST, Henderson County Emergency Management reports at least 12 roads still closed due to flooding across the county. The heavy rain that caused earlier flash flooding has ended across the county and less than an inch of additional rainfall is expected. Therefore, the Flash Flood Warning has been allowed to expire and is replaced with a Flood Warning.

* Please obey all barricades and do not drive over flooded roads. Barricades are in place for your safety and remain in place to allow engineers to assess road stability before determining they are safe for travel.

* Mud Creek has crested and is now receding. It will take several hours for the stream to fully recede so flooding of low-lying areas along Mud Creek near Hendersonville will continue through Thursday evening.

* Some locations that may continue to experience flooding include... Hendersonville, Mills River, Fletcher, Flat Rock, Etowah, Mountain Home, Laurel Park, and Bat Cave.

* AFFECTED AREAS: HENDERSON, NC

Instructions:

Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Do not attempt to cross water-covered roadways, bridges, or low-level crossings. Only a few inches of rapidly flowing water can carry away your vehicle. It is not worth the risk. Please TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN. Numerous roads, parking lots and bridges will be threatened by heavy rain and rapidly rising streams and creeks. Please pay close attention to road signs indicating a flood-prone area. Obey all barricades, even if water is not currently over the road. Barricades are in place for your protection and indicate areas where flooding can occur rapidly and without warning.
