The National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for... Cherokee County in southwestern North Carolina... Clay County in southwestern North Carolina... Polk County in east Tennessee...

* Until 730 AM EST.

* At 328 AM EST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage and low lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Andrews, Murphy, Ducktown, Hayesville, Nantahala Lake, William L. Davenport Refuge, Tusquitee, Violet, Conasauga and Big Frog Mountain.

* AFFECTED AREAS: POLK, TN ... CLAY, NC ... CHEROKEE, NC

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
